CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

  1. 1. A criminal record check is valid for 2 years. Therefore, an accredited coach must obtain a criminal record check every 2 years.

    2. Acriminal record check is not limited to one sport but to the criminal record of the person being checked. It is therefore valid for all instances.

    3. Criminal record checks are only done to protect minor athletes. Therefore, a coach who only coaches adult athletes is not required to have a criminal record check.

    4. It is not possible to conduct a criminal record check on a coach who is a minor. In Quebec, the age of majority is eighteen.

    5. The Lifesaving Society is a member of SPORT QUÉBEC and all its members benefit from a preferential rate with Trustii. This company performs: 

  • Identity validation using identification and biometric verification. 
  • Penal and criminal offence checks against provincial and municipal court records. 
  • Criminal offence checks against the RCMP's national registry of criminal records that may be linked to the candidate.

    6. It is not mandatory to have a criminal record check done by Trustii. It is possible to use the RCMP, a local police station or another company such as Identité Québec.

    7. If coaches use another criminal background check service, they must send proof of their results to the Lifesaving Sport Coordinator (sauvetagesportif@sauvetage.qc.ca). 

 

8. To conduct a criminal record check, write to the Lifesaving Sport Coordinator (sauvetagesportif@sauvetage.qc.ca). A link will be sent to you via the Trustii platform.

A record check is done once the requested form is completed. The Lifesaving Society has access to the results directly on its Trustii account.
