REQUEST FOR AN EQUIVALENT MEASURE

(request for derogation)

 

Members of the Lifesaving Society must comply with the Lifesaving Society Program GuideIf the provisions of the current Program Guide are not met, no certificate will be issued. 

If compliance with the Program Guide is not possible, under certain conditions and in order to make Lifesaving Society training available to as many participants as possible, an Affiliate Member or a member conducting non-protocol training may apply for an equivalent measure (waiver).   

 

The Lifesaving Society member must complete the form and obtain prior approval from the Lifesaving Society.   The application must demonstrate that the quality of the training and the safety of the candidates will be maintained. 

 

The Program Guide has provisions for increasing the number of participants in a course, please consult it before applying for an equivalent measure.  

 

Age prerequisites for training are not eligible for an equivalent measure.   

 

WHEN SHOULD THE REQUEST FOR AN EQUIVALENT MEASURE BE COMPLETED? 

As soon as possible before the start of a course or as soon as an issue arises in relation to the requirements of the Program Guide. 

 

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM THE LIFESAVING SOCIETY? 

Within a maximum of 10 business daysA note will be placed on the exam file of the course that received an equivalent measure to ensure compliance.
