CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK
-
1. A criminal record check is valid for 2 years. Therefore, an accredited coach must obtain a criminal record check every 2 years.
-
2. Acriminal record check is not limited to one sport but to the criminal record of the person being checked. It is therefore valid for all instances.
-
3. Criminal record checks are only done to protect minor athletes. Therefore, a coach who only coaches adult athletes is not required to have a criminal record check.
-
4. It is not possible to conduct a criminal record check on a coach who is a minor. In Quebec, the age of majority is eighteen.
-
5. The Lifesaving Society is a member of SPORT QUÉBEC and all its members benefit from a preferential rate with Trustii. This company performs:
- Identity validation using identification and biometric verification.
- Penal and criminal offence checks against provincial and municipal court records.
- Criminal offence checks against the RCMP's national registry of criminal records that may be linked to the candidate.
-
6. It is not mandatory to have a criminal record check done by Trustii. It is possible to use the RCMP, a local police station or another company such as Identité Québec.
-
7. If coaches use another criminal background check service, they must send proof of their results to the Lifesaving Sport Coordinator (sauvetagesportif@sauvetage.qc.ca).
8. To conduct a criminal record check, write to the Lifesaving Sport Coordinator (sauvetagesportif@sauvetage.qc.ca). A link will be sent to you via the Trustii platform.
