IDENTIFICATION CRITERIA
Identification as a DEVELOPMENT or PERFORMANCE athlete should not be seen as a reward for past performances, but as a means of supporting future success.
Athletes are identified from the age of 14, as this is the minimum age for participation in national and international competitions. An athlete’s age is determined by his or her age on December 31st of the year in which he or she is to compete. Identified athletes must have participated in the Quebec Lifesaving Championships (pool and/or beach) in an individual event, and must also meet the following training requirement:
- Athletes aged 14 to 17 must train a minimum of 4 times a week.
- Athletes aged 18 and over must train a minimum of 7 times a week.
Proof of training may be requested at any time. Athletes are identified for a period of one year, from September 1st to the following August 31st. The identified athletes list will be published on the Lifesaving Society website.
