TEAM QUEBEC
With lifesaving sport having grown in popularity over the past few years, the Lifesaving Society is proud to present the Programme au développement du sauvetage sportif au Québec (PDSSQ). The Lifesaving Society wishes to help Quebec athletes actively committed to development, and Team Quebec was created to encourage their ambitions.
While serving as the basis for Team Quebec, the PDSSQ is designed to promote lifesaving sport throughout the province of Quebec. Increased participation in club trainings and regional competitions raises awareness of the sport, and the PDSSQ can help attract many athletes from other related sports (i.e. swimming, canoeing, track and field, etc.), thus broadening the base of lifesaving sport athletes. This broader commitment helps to create a vibrant sporting community with increased opportunities for development.
In addition, the PDSSQ’s investment in athlete identification and the organization of training camps with experienced coaches and health professionals (e.g. physiotherapist, nutritionist, kinesiologist, mental coach, etc.) contributes to the overall well-being of all aspiring athletes who may join Team Quebec in the future, not just those selected for Team Quebec. In essence, the PDSSQ serves as a catalyst for the growth and enrichment of lifesaving sport in Quebec, which has a positive impact on athletes at all levels.
While being selected to the Canadian team and winning national and international medals remains the performance objective of all elite athletes, the necessary structure must be put in place to achieve this, and the Lifesaving Society is willing to invest in the future to seek a constant progression. The Lifesaving Society aims to reap success in the years to come, so that Quebec can regain its position as a strong province.
All PDSSQ programs and support are available only to accredited individuals and organizations affiliated with the Lifesaving Society. They must also comply with Lifesaving Society policies and regulations. For more information, please refer to the program guide.
