Lifeguarding in the Context of COVID-19
It is aquatic managers’ responsibility to ensure that their lifeguards are not affected by the enforcement of social distancing and mask-wearing rules. These tasks must be assigned to employees who are not lifeguarding.
IS MY LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATE (POOL, WATERFRONT, SURF AND WATER PARK) STILL VALID?
FOR LIFEGUARDS
As previously announced, the RBQ has granted a 45-day delay for lifeguarding certificates in order to give everyone time to requalify. All members whose NLP, NLCB, NLWP and/or NLO card expired between March 30 and June 30 have until the following dates to requalify:
- JULY 13 - Indoor and Outdoor Pools (public and private)
- AUGUST 5 - Waterfronts (public and private)
- AUGUST 9 - Water Parks
It’s hot and the sun is shining!
This summer, take advantage of the free literature from the Tout baigne au soleil program, which promotes the adoption of healthy sun protection habits among young patrons and lifeguards.
Summer is fast approaching; it’s not only time to take advantage of the good weather around pools and beaches, but it’s also time to be more vigilant about the harmful effects of the sun. The Lifesaving Society provides all the literature for the Tout baigne au soleil program to help you do this.
It’s all about the sun, a skin cancer prevention program for users aged 6 to 12 and lifeguards. It’s an excellent way to encourage good sun protection habits while offering supervision to the facility’s patrons.
Are you a lifeguard and would like to lead Tout baigne au soleil activities? Consult the Lifeguard’s Guide.
