Lifeguards/animators create a rapport with campers to ensure that all participants have a positive camp experience. Candidates in this position are expected to demonstrate good work ethic, dependability and team work. Lifeguards/animators are responsible for animating, and participating in program activities including sports and recreation, arts and crafts, music, and thematic events for an integrated population of campers with varying challenge and abilities. This position requires high levels of energy, an out-going personality, as well as leadership skills and a willingness to work with clientele of all ages and abilities.

Pre-requisites

● Minimum 15 years old

● Pass police background check

● Camp experience or equivalent volunteer/community involvement

● Valid Bronze cross certification or higher

Terms of employment

● Report to waterfront coordinator and site director

● Full time, live on-site, 9 weeks

● Required to participate in pre-camp meetings and training session (dates to be determined)

● One day off per week (24 hours), room and board included.

Responsibilities

1. Primary Job Functions

● Participate in Pre-Camp meetings and site set-up

● Daily upkeep of first aid kits and supplies

● Lifeguard and supervision during swimming and boating times

● Lifeguard and supervision during special waterfront events

● Lead and participate in camper activities

● Engage in a positive manner with all campers within safe and respectful boundaries

● Ensure all campers, volunteers and staff are safe and following waterfront rules, general

camp rules, and boundaries

● Assist with set-up and clean-up of waterfront and program activities

● Responding with first aid care as needed

● Other tasks as required

2. General Camp Leadership:

At all times you are an ambassador of Camp Kinkora and its values of community service and leadership. We maintain a high standard of expectation that all employees will;

● Be a positive role model to campers, volunteers and staff

● Total presence at all meals and staff meeting

● Stay emotionally and physically healthy for the duration of the contract

● Assist with / participate in all camp events and programs as needed

● Participate in any tasks deemed necessary to the safe and fun functioning of the camp

● Other tasks as required
