DECEMBRE 2020 - PROCEDURES AND ADMINISTRATION

HOW TO MANAGE COVID-19-RELATED ABSENCES?

It is important to allow flexibility when candidates are absent due to the presence of symptoms associated with COVID-19. A Guide (french only) is made available to help you manage absences without penalizing the candidate. The objective is to be able to assess all the course items and to promote the success of the candidates. This tool offers, among other things, tips to compensate for absences through preparatory readings and the addition of extra time to the course session. In order to limit face-to-face activities, refer to the Dashboard to find out how to schedule classroom activities via videoconference.

These measures are best suited to courses offered on a weekly basis (once a week). Due to the duration of the quarantine period estimated at nearly 14 days, a candidate enrolled in a course offered in an intensive format, thus lasting less than 2 weeks, will be invited to join another course. When a candidate contracts COVID-19 while following a course offered in an intensive format, they won’t be able to resume classes. A refund is recommended and the candidate may be asked to register for the next course.

A National Lifeguard candidate must attend more than 90% of the course (36 hours). In the context of COVID-19, a National Lifeguard candidate must have participated in a minimum of 20 hours in the pool and 16 hours by videoconference (or in class) to take the exam. In all cases, the instructor must ensure that the candidate has been evaluated on all items.

A candidate at the Bronze levels may challenge an exam. It is therefore possible for a candidate who would have had too much absence to challenge his exam. We suggest merging the exam and the challenge. To do so, you will have to allow a longer evaluation time since for the challenge, the candidate is evaluated on all the items.

ARE YOUR LINKS TO OUR WEBSITE UP TO DATE?

Over the past few weeks, the Lifesaving Society has been working on its website sauvetage.qc.ca and several pages have been moved to new menus. These changes, which now make navigation easier, especially for the entire Leadership section, have resulted in changes to the URLs of the pages.

If you are referencing your website to ours for our various programs, activities and services, your links may no longer be functional. We invite you to browse through the various links on your website to make sure that everything is working.
