VITA IS COMING SOON!

VITA -FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The change to the database system may raise several questions regarding its accessibility and functionality.
Here are the questions that are most likely to be frequently asked:

Platform Access and Login

Will the link or access path change?

Yes. A new address will be communicated along with redirects to ease the transition. The login link on the website will also be updated.

Will my login credentials change?

Yes. Each user will need to activate their new account with a unique email address and enhanced security, including two-factor authentication. An email with instructions for creating your account on the new platform will be sent to you.

As an organization, will it be possible to have more than one user associated with the account?

Yes. Organizations can have more than one managing user for the same organization, with different access levels and permissions.

If an affiliated employee is not a lifeguard, can they have an individual account?

Yes. They can have an account in order to access organization management features.

When creating a new member, will we be able to modify information if there is an error before validating the exam?

Once the member's profile is created, it is up to them to update their information on VITA through their own account.
Member ID

Will my member ID number remain the same?

No. It will be replaced by a national alphanumeric identifier. Your old number will remain on file for reference and will be useful when activating your new account.

I had a file in more than one province — what will happen to my different member numbers and profiles?

The identifier, or member number, is now nationalized, meaning it is the same regardless of which province you are active in. Your home province will be linked to your place of residence.

Will the new member number appear in old courses and exams?

Yes. The new member number will appear on VITA as the permanent number, even in archived records.
File Contents and Personal Data

Will the contents of my file be modified?

All essential data will be retained. Some information will be better structured, and new fields may be available depending on your role. The expiration date on your certificate might change by a day or two; see the List of Operational Changes for details.

If I uncheck the marketing box, will communications related to certifications still be sent?

No. You will not receive any communications if you uncheck the marketing box.
Certifications, Awards, and Member Cards

Will there be changes to my awards or certifications?

Yes. Certifications will be displayed more clearly in your file, and the award will adopt an electronic format instead of a paper document. The expiration date on your certificate might change by a day or two; see the List of Operational Changes for details.

I have old awards on file. Will these certifications carry over in the data migration?

Yes. Your member file history will remain the same. However, old expired certifications will not be available for download as electronic awards.

Will the member card issuance process change?

Yes. Issuance will be automated and faster, and tracking can be done directly in your online file.

Since my certification card will now be virtual, how do I keep it on me at all times?

It will be possible to print it if desired, but the issuing format will be different.

How can I confirm the authenticity and validity of my employee's award?

Details to follow.

As an employer, will I be able to download my employees' certifications myself?

Details to follow.

Will it be possible to have the certification in a digital wallet?

No. That will not be possible. However, there is always the option to download certifications as PDFs to a drive that is easily accessible on mobile.

Will expired qualifications or failed courses be visible to affiliated members?

Affiliated members can view courses given within their affiliation but do not have the option to view a given member's full profile, including past qualifications or failures.

As of what date will certification cards no longer be printed?

As of May 25.

For upcoming exam validations, will all lifesaving instructors need to have access to the platform?

However, it will be possible to upload a CSV file to the new platform to create the participants list for training in preparation for the final evaluation.

Will new features be accessible?
