TRAINER RECERTIFICATION WORKSHOP
RECERTIFICATION TRAINING UPDATE
The time has finally come! We are officially launching the new versions of the Lifesaving Instructor, First Aid Instructor, and Swimming Instructor recertifications.
These updates aim to standardize teaching practices and ensure consistent training quality across Quebec. Below, you’ll find all the information you need—whether you are a Trainer or a Manager.
TRAINERS
A great new feature accompanies this launch: a mandatory workshop that every Trainer must complete to become familiar with the updates.
The goal of this workshop is to standardize teaching delivery, answer your questions, and equip you for implementing the new versions.
After completing the workshop, a virtual certification will automatically be added to your profile as proof of completion. You will also receive by email the full set of documents for each recertification option, which will not be available online.
The workshop will be offered at various times—during the day, in the evening, and even on weekends—to accommodate all schedules. It will last approximately one hour and will be delivered virtually.
We’ve also prepared a collection of annexes for each recertification to make it easier to print the activities. This document will be provided during your participation in the webinar.
You will have until the end of 2025 to complete the workshop and begin offering the new version. Starting January 2026, the 2023–2025 recertification documents will no longer be accessible, and the new version will become mandatory.
MANAGERS
As a manager, a few key details will help you plan your activities effectively:
Allow for an additional 15 minutes for the Lifesaving Instructor option to ensure a smooth transition between the classroom and the pool.
If you are offering Swimming Instructor recertifications, make sure your Trainers have access to inclusive swimming tools required to teach the new version.
Trainers must complete the one-hour virtual workshop before they can access the materials and teach the 2026–2027 version.
A virtual certification will be added to their profile to confirm participation. You will then need to validate this certification to authorize your Trainers to deliver the recertification.
Mandatory Webinar: Registration
All Trainers must participate in an introductory webinar before accessing the new documents.
Several virtual sessions will be offered to accommodate different schedules:
This update marks an important milestone in the evolution of our training programs. together, we ensure consistency, quality, and safety in aquatic instruction across Quebec.
Thank you for your continued commitment to training Instructors and promoting the mission of the Lifesaving Society!
