OCTOBER 2020 - HEALTH AND SECURITY

A review of COVID-19

Since March, the Lifesaving Society has been working to implement measures and recommendations related to the context of COVID-19 and operating bathing sites.

With the second wave of the virus sweeping across Quebec, and more specifically the Greater Montreal and Quebec City, which have just reached Code Red, it is important to remain vigilant with regard to the spread of the virus. Although studies show that the risk of transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus through water is considered low and there is currently no data to indicate that the virus can be transmitted through water, it is still imperative to apply all necessary sanitary measures and to respect social distancing between users, but also between aquatic facility staff.

Are you wondering about the limits of your work in the yellow, orange or red zone? Know that the Lifesaving Society follows the protocols of the Direction des soins préhospitaliers (Prehospital Care Branch). Consult the Bulletin de la chaîne de survie (Chain of Survival Bulletin) of Urgence Santé or the Guide des premiers soins en milieu de travail en contexte de COVID-19 (Guide to first aid in the workplace in the context of COVID-19) from the INSPQ.

Are you teaching lifesaving courses and your aquatic facility is now in an orange or red zone? Consult the guidelines of the Association des responsables aquatiques du Québec to learn about the measures and restrictions on the operation of an aquatic facility.

We remind you that you can consult the various publications available to guide you in the performance of your duties while respecting the sanitary measures put in place by Santé publique.
