Title: Lifeguard
Core Function: Under the direct supervision of the Aquatic Coordinator; he/she will monitor the activities in and around the swimming pool to enforce regulations and prevent accidents, assist people in distress and supervise the assistant lifeguard; and works within well-defined standards, rules and regulations.
Main Duties:
General
- Attend mandatory meetings and trainings
-Perform any tasks assigned by immediate superviser
National Lifeguard
-Supervise aquatic activites by scanning the swimming areas and enforcing Chisasibi Swimming Pool Center Rules and Regulations to prevent accidents to happen.
-Follow Chisaisbi Swimming Pool center Emergency Procedures by assessing any patron in need of assistance and performing required rescues.
-Supervise Assistant-Lifeguards
-Maintain pool areas in a safe and clean condition
-Make sure that all safety equipment is in proper condition and ready to use at all times.
-Maintain required Chisasibi Swimming Pool daily logs
-Fill out accident and/or incident reports when needed
-Communicate any important information to the Aquatic Coordinator
Lifesaving Instructor
-Teach lifesaving programs of the Lifesaving Society: Swim Patrol, Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross
-Supervise an Assistant-Lifesaving Instructor
-Assist an Assistant-Lifesaving Instructor in the preparation of the activities and materal and supervise her/she animation and teaching of trainings.
- Animate and teach all trainings
-Prepare all activities and material needed for trainings
-Assist and correct participants throughout training.
-Provide all participants' information for final evaluation to the Lifesaving Society
swim team coach
-Coach Swimmers of different age groups of our Swim Canada affiliated swim team
-Supervise Assistant-Coaches.
-Assist an Assistant-Coach in the preparation of activities and material and supervise his/her animation and teaching of trainings
-Animate and teach all trainings
-Prepare all activities and material needed for trainings
-Assist and correct swimmers throughout trainings
-Must participate actively in all swim team fundraising activities and local competitive events.
-Accompany our swim team to our of town competitive events.
Swimming Lessons Teacher
-Follow and attend mandatory I Can Swim trainings provided by the Cree Nation of Chisasibi.
-Teach all I Can Swim swimming lessons level offered at Chisasibi Swimming Pool Center.
-Supervise Assistant-Swimming Lessons Teacher
-Assist an Assistant-Swimming Lessons Teacher in the preparation of activities and material and supervise his/her animation and teaching of trainings
-Animate and teach swimming lessons
-Prepare all activities and material needed for swimming lessons
-Assist and correct swimmers throughout swimming lessons
-Provide all swimmers' completed skills to Head Guard for internal reports
employment requirements
-Posses all up to date certifications (Standard First Aid, National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Instructor, and Swim 101) ***Swimming Lessons Instructor certification will be provided from CNC***
-Must be fluent in English, French and Cree is an assist
-Be and maintain in a good physical condition at all times
-Ability to maintain a high level of concentration and alertness.
-Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure and independently with minimum supervision
-Must be punctual, reliable, and responsible.
-Must possess good communication skills
-Must possess strong adminstrative and organizational skills
-Demonstrate a postive attitude at all times
-Must be patient with assistant-workers, patrons, swimmers and participants of all our programs
-Must be willing to experience and easily adapt to a multi-cultural enviromeny
-Must be comfortable working within a team
-Must be passsionate about exchanging kowledge, skills and experience with others.
employment conditions
-Will be working nights, weekends, holidays(must be willing to work long hours on some days)
-Full-time (40 hours per week)
