DECEMBER 2020 - HEALTH AND SECURITY
FIRST AID INSTRUCTOR: A CERTIFICATE NOW RECOGNIZED BY THE CNESST
The CNESST will bring amendment regarding the prerequisites to become a Trainer for the First Aid in the Workplace training program
Previously, one of the prerequisites was to hold a valid Basic Life Support Card (BLS/AED) from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Now, First Aid Instructor training from the other 3 national organizations will also be accepted as equivalent for this prerequisite (St. John Ambulance, the Canadian Red Cross and the Lifesaving Society). Training from the Heart and Stroke Foundation will still be accepted.
As a result, a Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor may become a Trainer for the First Aid in the Workplace training program if they also have the other prerequisites
