Recruitment Services
Recruiting qualified lifeguards and assistant lifeguards is essential to ensure proper supervision and safety at swimming areas.
In Quebec, operators are responsible for ensuring that staff assigned to supervision duties hold the required and valid qualifications, in accordance with applicable regulations and the duties they perform.
To support organizations in their recruitment efforts, the Lifesaving Society offers various ways to promote employment opportunities and reach qualified candidates throughout Quebec.
Before posting a position, employers are encouraged to verify the qualifications required for the type of swimming area and the duties to be performed.
Requirements governing the supervision of swimming areas in Quebec are set out in Chapter IX – Swimming Areas of the Safety Code, which came into force on July 17, 2025.
The regulations specify, among other things, that individuals performing certain supervision or rescue duties must hold a valid certificate issued by a recognized organization. The Lifesaving Society meets the definition of a recognized organization under the regulations.
Requirements may vary depending on the type of swimming area, the activities offered and the duties performed. Before hiring, it is therefore important to verify the requirements that apply to the facility and position in question.
