Surf Events

Individual Events

A beach run over a distance of 500 m, 1,000 m, 1,500 m, or 2,000 m.

A 90 m sprint on the beach.

Starting from a prone position, competitors must get to their feet and sprint 20 m to retrieve a beach flag.

Competitors must run 100 m, swim 100 m or 300 m, and then run an additional 100 m.

Competitors must swim a distance of 100 m, 200 m, or 400 m.

Competitors must paddle a rescue board over a distance of 200 m, 400 m, or 600 m.

Competitors must paddle a surf ski over a distance of 800 m.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories. 
 

Competitors must swim 100 m, 200 m, or 400 m, paddle a rescue board 200 m, 400 m, or 600 m, and sprint 50 m.

In addition, athletes in the 11–12 and 13–14 categories must complete a 500 m or 1,000 m run, while athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories must complete a 700 m surf ski paddle.

Please note that the order of the events is determined by draw, and the sprint is always the final leg.

Relays and Team Events

The 4 competitors each complete a 90 m beach sprint, one at a time, passing a baton between teammates.

The 4 competitors (one swimmer, one board paddler, one runner/paddler, and one sprinter) must complete the following events: a 100 m, 200 m, or 400 m swim; a 200 m, 400 m, or 600 m board paddle; and a 50 m sprint.

In addition, athletes in the 11–12 and 13–14 categories must complete a 500 m or 1,000 m run, while athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories must complete a 700 m surf ski paddle.

Please note that the order of the events is determined by draw, and the sprint is always the final leg.

In this 2-person team event, one swimmer must swim 120 m to a designated buoy. Upon arrival, the swimmer signals the board paddler, who paddles out to perform the rescue. The pair then return together to shore on the rescue board and cross the finish line.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories.

In this 4-person team event, one swimmer must swim 120 m to a designated buoy. Upon arrival, the swimmer signals the rescuer, who swims out wearing fins and carrying a rescue tube. The swimmer is secured with the rescue tube around the lower legs, and both return together toward shore. Once near the beach, the two remaining team members assist by carrying the swimmer across the finish line.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories.

Pool Events

Individual Events

Competitors must swim a distance of 50 m, 100 m, or 200 m while passing underneath obstacles.

Competitors must swim 50 m, retrieve a half-filled or full manikin, and carry it to the finish wall.

Competitors must swim 50 m or 100 m with fins, retrieve a half-filled or full manikin, and carry it to the finish wall.

Competitors must swim 50 m or 100 m with fins, retrieve a half-filled manikin using a rescue tube, and tow it to the finish wall.

Competitors must swim 100 m, including 17.5 m underwater, retrieve a full manikin, and carry it to the finish wall.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories.

Competitors must swim 100 m or 200 m, combining both a manikin carry and a manikin tow.

Relays and Team Events

Competitors throw an unweighted rope, attempting to reach a cable or crossbar positioned in a swimming lane three times within a time limit of 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 10 and Under and 11–12 categories.

Competitors throw an unweighted rope to a teammate holding onto a crossbar and then pull that teammate to the poolside within a time limit of 45 seconds.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 13–14, 15–18, Open, and Masters categories.

The 4 competitors swim 50 m each, one at a time, while passing underneath obstacles.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories.

The 4 competitors swim 50 m each, one at a time, passing a full manikin to the next teammate.

Please note that this event is only available for athletes in the 15–18, Open, and Masters categories.

In this 4-person relay event, the first competitor swims 50 m, the second swims 50 m with fins, the third swims 50 m carrying a rescue tube, and the fourth grabs the rescue tube harness from the third competitor and swims 50 m while towing them. The third competitor must assist by kicking.
