Competition Equipment

Lifesaving sport requires different types of equipment depending on the events practised in Pool and Surf. Clubs organizing training sessions or competitions should plan their equipment needs based on the events being offered and the applicable requirements.

The Lifesaving Society makes certain equipment available to clubs and also provides resources to help them plan their purchases.

Borrow Competition Equipment

The Lifesaving Society has lifesaving sport equipment that clubs may borrow for certain activities and competitions.

Requests must be submitted in advance using the equipment loan form to allow sufficient time to confirm equipment availability and arrange the loan.

Equipment Used in Competitions

Equipment needs vary depending on the discipline and the events being organized. The following lists provide an overview of the main equipment used, along with estimated new purchase prices to help clubs plan their budget.

Before purchasing: A club does not need to own all competition equipment. Before making significant purchases, clubs should consider the events they practise, the equipment already available, borrowing or sharing opportunities, and their actual needs.

  M: up to 165 lb
  L: up to 200 lb
  XL: up to 235 lb
  XXL: up to 255 lb

When a club owns several rescue boards and surf skis, purchasing an appropriate equipment rack or trailer can make it easier to transport equipment to training sessions and competitions. The selected solution must allow equipment to be transported safely and in accordance with the requirements applicable to the vehicle and trailer.
