Instructor Trainer
Instructor Trainers play an essential role in developing leadership and maintaining the quality of Lifesaving Society programs. Their expertise allows them to train, mentor, and evaluate future instructors while contributing to the development of the next generation of professionals in swimming, lifesaving, aquatic supervision, and first aid.
The course develops the skills needed to train instructors, supervise their learning, and evaluate their achievement of the competencies required by the Leadership program.
The Instructor Trainer course is a centralized training program offered by the Lifesaving Society. Affiliate members wishing to organize a course for their staff may contact the Lifesaving Society team.

To maintain a valid Instructor Trainer certification:
The corresponding instructor certification must remain valid;
The maintenance and recertification requirements established by the credit system must be met.
Successfully completing the course is the first step in the certification process. Candidates must then successfully complete a teaching internship in an instructor training course corresponding to the specialization in which they wish to become certified as an Instructor Trainer.
The internship allows candidates to apply the skills developed during the course and demonstrate their ability to plan, teach, mentor, and evaluate instructor candidates.
Once both the course and teaching internship have been successfully completed, the corresponding Instructor Trainer certification may be issued.
The required training materials can be ordered from the Lifesaving Society.
After successfully completing the course and the corresponding teaching internship, Instructor Trainers may obtain qualifications allowing them to train instructors in one or more of the following areas:
Swim Instructor;
Lifesaving Instructor;
National Lifeguard Instructor;
First Aid Instructor.
Each Instructor Trainer qualification is linked to the corresponding instructor certification and the specific requirements of that specialization.
