Maintaining healthy, safe, high-quality pool water requires a solid understanding of water treatment systems, the parameters that need to be monitored, and the factors that can affect water balance.

he Pool Operator course provides aquatic facility managers and operators with the knowledge needed to effectively manage water quality, understand how equipment operates, and respond appropriately when problems arise.

The course also provides a better understanding of the requirements of the Regulation respecting water quality in swimming pools and other artificial pools that apply to the operation of covered facilities.

The course covers how to:
  Identify the main water and air contaminants and the appropriate treatment methods;
  Understand how the main components of a filtration system operate;
  Optimize the use of water treatment products;
  Understand regulatory requirements related to water quality in swimming pools and other artificial pools;
  Analyze various issues encountered in the operation of a swimming pool, wading pool, spa, waterpark, or splash pad covered by the regulation;
  Apply a problem-solving approach to water quality issues;
  Discuss the realities and challenges involved in operating an aquatic facility.

  Aquatic facility managers;
  Aquatic facility operators;
  Individuals responsible for water treatment and water quality monitoring.

  Prerequisite: None

The Pool Operator course can also be offered to a private group based on an organization’s needs.

Clear Water: An Essential Part of Safety

Water clarity directly contributes to pool safety. Sufficiently clear water allows aquatic supervision staff to maintain good visibility below the surface and quickly identify a person in distress.
