Spa Operator
Operating a spa presents specific water quality challenges. High water temperatures, water volume, and bather load can quickly affect water balance and treatment effectiveness.
The Spa Operator course provides participants with the knowledge needed to understand how a spa operates, properly monitor water quality, and take appropriate action when observed parameters require adjustment.
The course also provides a better understanding of the requirements of the Regulation respecting water quality in swimming pools and other artificial pools that apply to whirlpools covered by Quebec regulations.
The course covers how to:
svg Understand the specific requirements of spa water treatment;
svg Understand how the main components of the filtration and circulation systems operate;
svg Identify the main contaminants that can affect water quality;
svg Understand the principles of disinfection and water balance;
svg Perform and interpret key water quality tests;
svg Optimize the use of water treatment products;
svg Identify common problems and determine appropriate corrective measures;
svg Understand regulatory requirements related to spa operation and water quality monitoring;
svg Apply best practices for maintenance, prevention, and water quality management.
The course is primarily intended for:
svg Aquatic facility managers;
svg Spa operators;
svg Individuals responsible for spa maintenance, water treatment, or water quality monitoring.
Asynchronous Format:
svg Flexible, self-paced training. Certification requires a theoretical exam and a recorded practical demonstration.
Duration:
svg 7 to 8 hours + theoretical and practical assessments

A spa is not managed in exactly the same way as a swimming pool. Its characteristics and operating conditions require careful monitoring of water parameters and appropriate maintenance to ensure high-quality water.
Quebec regulations include physicochemical and microbiological standards, as well as monitoring requirements for the pools to which they apply.
