A Sport Where Lifesaving Skills Meet Performance

Lifesaving sport is a well-rounded discipline that combines aquatic skills, judgment, knowledge and physical performance. Inspired by lifesaving techniques, the sport allows athletes to develop their abilities while challenging themselves in a stimulating and competitive environment.

Accessible to different ages and experience levels, lifesaving sport takes place in both pool and beach environments, through training sessions and individual or team competitions.

A Sport Directly Inspired by Lifesaving

Lifesaving sport showcases lifesaving-related skills in a competitive setting. Speed, endurance, power, technical proficiency, decision-making and teamwork are among the many qualities it develops.

The discipline helps develop four key qualities associated with lifesaving:
  Skills;
  Judgment;
  Knowledge;
  Physical performance.

Beyond competition, lifesaving sport contributes to the development of well-rounded athletes and provides opportunities to maintain and improve a variety of lifesaving skills.

A Sport for Different Ages and Levels

Lifesaving sport can be practised from a young age and throughout life. Different categories allow junior athletes, athletes aged 15 to 18, seniors and masters to participate according to their age and level.

Anyone interested in discovering the sport can join a club and begin training before taking part in competitions. A Discovery Accreditation also provides an opportunity to try lifesaving sport for the first time through certain eligible activities.
