Grand rassemblement 2016
The Sports Awards recipients have been announced last Saturday during the second edition of the Grand rassemblement du sauvetage sportif.
Technical workshops, first training event of the Quebec team, brainstorming session on various aspects of lifesaving sport: it has been a busy day for the participants!
The event was organized by the CAEM (Club aquatique de l’Est de Montréal) and took place at the Annie-Pelletier pool. In the evening, participants were given the opportunity to bet on various objects for the Kelly-Anne-Drummond Fund charity auction.
Martin Leprohon, newly appointed Commissioner for the national Sport Commission, delivered a welcome speech before the grant and Kelly-Anne-Drummond Cup winners were announced. The celebrations of the end of the lifesaving sport season went on as Sports Awards for the 2015-2016 season were awarded. Promising athlete Camille Gaudreault and seasoned coach Marie-Hélène Paquette were happy to be respectively designated female athlete and coach of the year. Devoted volunteer Cynthia Bourgeois was equally pleased to accept the Yanick Graveline Prize as official of the year. Hosting club CAEM enthusiastically became the club of the year, while Valentine Tanev was presented with the Ginette-Bazzocchi prize for the remarkable sportsmanship he showed during the season.
