Nautical Operator Certificate

The Boating Operator Certification (BOC) provides the essential knowledge needed to operate a motorized pleasure craft safely and responsibly.

The training is offered entirely online through a partnership between the Lifesaving Society and CarteBateau.com. It includes boating safety training and the exam required to obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).

Fully Online Training

Available online, the training can be completed at each participant’s own pace. It provides the knowledge needed for safe boating, including:
  Navigation rules;
  Required safety equipment on board;
  Preparing for an outing on the water;
  Navigation aids and signage;
  Main risks associated with recreational boating;
  Appropriate actions to take in an emergency.

Successfully completing the exam leads to the Pleasure Craft Operator Card, a proof of competency recognized by Transport Canada.
