Effective September 5, 2025
The recertification must have been completed after September 5, 2025.
The recertification must already have taken place, and the results must be submitted before an application is made. Otherwise, the application will be automatically denied.
What’s New in the 2026–2027 Recertification Program
Combined recertification: To renew two certifications, at least one recertification must be completed, along with the required teaching experience (identified under the prerequisites in the table below) within the last 24 months.
Course duration: Recertification will be limited to a maximum of 8 hours of in-person training over a two-year period. Therefore, if three Level 1 certifications need to be recertified, at least two recertifications must be completed.
In all cases, participants may attend all recertification courses if they do not meet the prerequisites.
Fees apply only to Trainers who co-teach.
For the Swim Instructor hours attestation, this document may be used.
