Recertification Training Update

The Lifesaving Instructor, First Aid Instructor, and Swim Instructor recertifications have been updated to standardize teaching practices and ensure the quality of training offered throughout Québec.

Trainers and managers will find the information they need here to prepare for the transition to the new versions.

For Trainers

A mandatory virtual workshop provides an overview of the updates, helps standardize the delivery of the content, and prepares trainers to implement the new recertifications.

Steps

1. Attend the workshop: Participate in a virtual session lasting approximately one hour.

2. Receive the virtual certification: A certification confirming participation in the workshop is automatically added to the trainer’s record.

3. Receive the resources: The documents and collections of appendices required for the recertifications are provided after the workshop.

4. Teach the new versions: Once the requirements have been completed, trainers may begin offering the new versions of the recertifications.

For Managers

A few elements should be planned to facilitate the delivery of the new recertifications.

Lifesaving Instructor
Allow an additional 15 minutes for the transition between the classroom and the pool.

Swim Instructor
Ensure that trainers have the inclusive swimming resources required to teach the new version.

Trainer Workshop
Ensure that trainers have completed the mandatory virtual workshop before teaching the new recertifications.

Certification Verification
Verify that the virtual certification appears in the trainer’s record and validate it to authorize the trainer to teach the recertification.

Mandatory Workshop for Trainers

Trainers must attend only one virtual workshop session before teaching the new versions of the recertifications.

Several time slots are available to facilitate participation.
