First Aid - Day Camp

You work in a day camp? You want to learn the first aid standards required to react quickly in case of an emergency? 

 

With this 8-hour training, you will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms that children can exhibit, to then apply the necessary emergency measures. This course also includes a section on the safe supervision of children in an aquatic environment, which is a huge advantage for all camps that attend aquatic facilities.  

 

Separated in two levels of four hours each, you will learn how to identify injuries, how to provide basic treatments to immobilize a child’s injury, andhow to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). You will also learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult and on a child, and how to react in case of a respiratory emergency or a cardiac arrest. 

 

LEVEL 1 

Level 1: Emergency First Aid for day camps (100% virtual) 

LENGTH: 4 hours 

AWARD VALIDITY: 1 year 

PREREQUISITE: None 

 

COURSE CONTENT 

  • Approach to a situation and general principles of first aid  
  • Management of a victim 
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adult and children  
  • Cardiovascular emergencies  
  • Respiratory emergencies  
  • Minor injuries, adapted to day camps (such as minor cuts, insect bites, sunburn)  
  • Procedures for swimming pool outings  
  • Safe supervision of groups of children in aquatic environments (as recommended by the Coroner's Office)

LEVEL 2 

Level 2: Emergency First Aid / AED (Certificate from the Lifesaving Society) (Applied, 100% in person) 

LENGTH: 4 hours 

AWARD VALIDITY: 2 years 

PREREQUISITE: Emergency First Aid for day camps, level 1 

 

COURSE CONTENT 

  • Practical applied activities based on the elements covered in level 1  
  • Anatomy and physiology specific to first aid  
  • Assessment of adult and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation and its complications  
  • Theory on the AED and two-rescuer resuscitation  
  • The lifesaver and the law   
  • Scenarios on the safe supervision of groups of children in aquatic environments 

 

WHO CAN TEACH THIS TRAINING? 

Any Lifesaving Instructors of the Lifesaving Society can teach the level 2. A guide will be available on the “Dashboard” in the «Secourisme/First Aid » section.

NIVEAU 1

Niveau 1 : Premiers secours pour camp de jour (100% asynchrone) 

DURÉE : 4 heures 

PRÉALABLE : Aucun 

 

CONTENU DU COURS 

  • Approche d'une situation et principes généraux en premiers soins 
  • Prise en charge d'une victime 
  • Réanimation cardiorespiratoire adulte et enfant 
  • Urgences cardiovasculaires 
  • Urgences respiratoires 
  • Blessures mineures adaptées au camp de jour (tel que coupure mineure, piqûre d'insecte, coup de soleil) 
  • Procédures adaptées à la sortie en piscine 
  • Encadrement sécuritaire des groupes d'enfants en milieu aquatique (tel que recommandé par le bureau du Coroner)

NIVEAU 2

Niveau 2 : Premiers secours / DEA (brevet de la Société de sauvetage) (Pratique,100% en présentiel) 

DURÉE : 4 heures 

PÉRIODE DE VALIDITÉ DU BREVET : 3 ans  

PRÉALABLE : Premiers secours - Camp de jour niveau 1 

 

CONTENU DU COURS 

  • Activités pratiques en présentiel sur les éléments vus lors du niveau 1 
  • Anatomie et physiologie spécifiques aux premiers soins 
  • Évaluation de la réanimation cardiorespiratoire adulte et enfant et ses complications 
  • Théorie sur le DEA et la réanimation à deux secouristes 
  • Le secouriste et la loi  
  • Scénarios sur l'encadrement sécuritaire des groupes d'enfants en milieu aquatique 

 

QUI PEUT DONNER CETTE FORMATION ? 

Tout Moniteur Premiers soins de la Société de sauvetage à jour peut offrir le niveau 2.  Un guide sera disponible dans le « Tableau de bord » dans la section « Secourisme/First Aid ».
