  • Reminder of Our Official Positions

    Important Reminder for Lifeguards and Aquatic Staff: Stay Vigilant — No Phone Use While on Duty. Following an article published this morning in La Presse about cellphone use in the workplace, the Lifesaving Society would like to remind all lifeguards and aquatic staff that during supervision hours or when present on the pool deck or near any body of water, the use of a cellphone or any other personal electronic device is strictly prohibited.

    The SUMMER 2025 edition of Alerte magazine is now available, highlighting major issues, tools, and tips for a safe and inspiring summer in the aquatic world. Key topics include: a spotlight on the Global Status Report on Drowning Prevention, essential advice on managing a team with ethics and efficiency, and a timely reminder about UV rays—the lifeguard's silent enemies. This issue also explores diversity in the aquatic environment, physical literacy, and the real-world implications of the new residential pool regulation coming into effect on September 30, 2025.

  • New Regulation on Swimming Areas
    The regulation amending chapitre X, Lieux de baignade, du Code de construction, as well as the regulation adding chapitre IX, Lieux de baignade, au Code de sécurité, were published yesterday in the Official Gazette of Quebec. A 15-day grace period will be granted before the regulation comes into effect, officially starting on July 17. From that date onward, all swimming areas in Quebec will be required to comply with the new safety code requirements.

  • CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – BOARD OF DIRECTORS

    The Board of Directors of the Lifesaving Society (Organization) will hold its Annual General Meeting on April 25, in a hybrid format. During this meeting, registered members in good standing will be able to learn about the Lifesaving Society’s activities for the year 2024. Through its programs, products, activities, and services (PPAS), the Lifesaving Society embodies the concept of “drowning prevention.” The Organization’s mission is to promote safe aquatic and water-related activities in order to prevent drowning.
