Teaching First Aid is about making the world a safer place. Instructors in the First Aid program give their students the confidence and knowledge to respond appropriately in emergency situations. They teach the latest first aid techniques and procedures, providing students with valuable tools to preserve life in the event of an emergency. 

 

To become a First Aid Instructor, candidates may take an initial 32-hour training course. If the candidate already holds a Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor certificate, this training will be 16 hours in length. 

32H COURSE

16H COURSE     

Must be 15 years of age and have a Standard First Aid * certificate. 

Must be 15 years of age, have a Standard First Aid* certificate and have a current Lifesaving Instructor certificate.  

* If your Standard First Aid certificate has expired, you will need to requalify your certificate before training. This is often offered just before the First Aid Instructor training begins. 

 

First Aid Instructor (16H)

By becoming a First Aid Instructor, you can contribute to the sharing of first aid knowledge in a stimulating, enjoyable, and rewarding environment. You can teach most of the courses in the First Aid program and train the first responders of tomorrow! 

 

This 16-hour course is designed for Lifesaving Instructor certification holders and others with teaching experience. If you don't have this experience, don't panic! Simply take the First Aid Instructor course (32 hours). 

 

PREREQUISITE: Must be at least 15 years of age and hold a current Standard First Aid certificate 

First Aid Instructor (32H)

By becoming a First Aid Instructor, you can contribute to the sharing of first aid knowledge in a stimulating, enjoyable and rewarding environment. 

 

This comprehensive training covers the 20-hour course and includes a pedagogical component. It allows you to teach most of the courses in the First Aid program, and thus, train tomorrow's responders! 

 

PREREQUISITE: Must be at least 15 years of age and General First Aid  

AQUATIC EMERGENCY CARE INSTRUCTOR/DEA

Once a candidate has met the prerequisites, they can be certified as an Aquatic Emergency Care/AED Instructor (for a licensing fee). The AEC Instructor teaches and evaluates Aquatic Emergency Care.   

  

PREREQUISITES: Lifesaving and First Aid Instructor with a current National Lifeguard certificate
